Mars One is a private organization, the task of which is the basis of a colony on Mars using ready -made technologies. This is the first project that plans to finance such a global operation through TV broadcasts in real time, ranging from the selection of astronauts on Earth and ending with the solution of complex technical problems on the surface of Mars.
Many people believe that the desire to explore the solar system is a much more important achievement for all of humanity than the local desires of individual nations. Like the landing of Apollo on the moon, the human mission on Mars will make it clear to our generations that in this world everything is possible. The Mars One team believes not only in the possibility of this mission, but also that they are obliged to do everything possible to accelerate our understanding of the formation of space, the origin of life, and, no less important, our meaning of existence in the universe.
In 2011, the creation of the first plans began. During the first year, negotiations were held with many space agencies and corporations to verify this idea for strength. The response letters contained deep interest in the project.
Since this would be too expensive for corporations, for government enterprises – too risky project, Mars One decided to follow the path of integration of individual branches of existing technologies.
The plan is compiled taking into account existing technologies from reliable suppliers. The project itself is not an aerospace company and does not produce equipment necessary for the mission. All equipment will be developed by third parties and then combined into a single whole.
The full set for the mission will contain the following:
Launcher. This variety of the rocket will be used to deliver the beneficial cargo from Earth to orbit (or from orbit to Mars). It is planned to use the SpaceX Falcon Heavy rocket (improved version of Falcon 9, which is used by Spacex at a given time).
Martian transit module. The module will be responsible for the delivery of astronauts to Mars. It will consist of two fuel systems, landing systems and residential premises.
Descent device. The Mars One team proposes to use the advanced version of Dragoncapsule, which was first tested in 2010. This is the same capsule that was successfully joined with the ISS (International Space Station) in May 2012. The Martian mission will need its slightly expanded model, which will include:
Life support module in which air generation systems will be located
Power module that will contain food
The biosphere module in which special inflatable sections will be stored, which will allow you to create large residential areas on the surface of Mars
The travel module in which the astronauts will spend seven months before landing on the planet
Module of the Marsoners
It is planned to use a large semi -autonomous system with sunny nutrition in the role of the Mars
Intelligence
Quick collection of small vehicles
Transportation of large hardware components
General assembly of large structures
Thus, this will be more likely not a rover (in our usual sense), but a mobile factory on wheels.
All astronauts will have to wear costumes at contacts with the Martian atmosphere. Like those used on the moon, costumes will protect astronauts from extreme temperatures, a thin airless atmosphere and harmful radiation.
The system will transmit video streams along the Mars chain – communication satellite – Earth
Humanity on Mars
Tell you about something like that-“We are going to fly to Mars for a permanent life”-you will have questions:
How astronauts can leave the land? This is madness!
How will they prepare for life on Mars?
What can happen in seven months of travel?
What the astronauts will do when they find themselves away from the house?
Let’s try to answer these questions, and not only.
Emigration https://nonukcasinosites.co.uk/review/kaasino/ to Mars
Buying a one -way ticket is always more profitable than taking care of the return road, but what the astronauts think about this? Everything will depend on who to ask. It is easy to notice that most people will prefer to lose their feet rather than staying on a cold dangerous planet, saying “for now-poks” to all their family and friends (with friends.translator), and knowing that they will never meet with them face to face after a Spartan trip to the Red Planet. However, there are people for whom a trip to Mars is a long -standing many years of dream. They are ready to meet with the planet one on one. For them, this is a unique opportunity to explore the new world, conduct an unknown experiments, build a new house for humanity and face to face an unknown.
The Mars One team will make it possible to replenish the ranks of astronauts to everyone. You are the one who dreams of this? Then read on to find out what awaits you! You prefer to lose your feet rather than go to such an adventure? Read on and make sure your choice!
Each astronaut will participate in a mandatory ten -year training. It will include numerous tests for professional accuracy in a group of four people. These tests will be held in a closed space for several months. The purpose of this is to understand how a certain person reacts to the immediate vicinity with the rest of the team. In addition to this, colonialists should master many new skills. In the end, these people will be responsible for each aspect of the Martian colony: repair, growing agricultural crops, as well as for many different medical trifles like fractures. (Dubious phenomenon in the conditions of Martian gravity. approx. translator)
One -way trip
The flight will take seven months. Astronauts will spend all this time in a very small space – much less than the main base will provide, moreover, without much luxury and excesses. It will be a difficult task. The shower is not included in the program in advance – only wet wipes, like visitors to the International Space Station. The main friends of the astronauts for this time are canned meat, constant noise of fans and a three -hour warm -up. Against such a background, getting into a solar storm will be a significant adventure – after all, you can fall a little and hide in the compartment with solar protection for a couple of days. There is no doubt that the trip will be tough, but the astronauts will endure – after all, this trip to their dream (Dream can be translated as a dream, including in a negative context. approx. translator).
Accommodation on Mars
Upon arrival at Mars, the astronauts will be settled in more comfortable premises (50 square meters per person, with a total area of 200 for the entire team). These premises are based on inflatable components – a bedroom, a working area, a living room, a greenhouse for growing herbs. Thanks to these components, the colonists will be able to take a shower like all normal people, cook fresh food, wear ordinary clothes and lead the usual way of essentially a lifestyle. The whole complex will be connected by a network of moves, but if someone wants to leave the base, he will need to wear a special suit. The installation of a residential complex will not take much time, and as soon as the task is solved, you can start construction and research.
Construction and research
Several main life support modules will arrive at Mars along with the first team of settlers. The team’s task will also include preparing modules for the next groups of people. All new modules from the Earth will gradually connect to the main base. Some of them will be duplicated to ensure greater safety and just for comfort. After some time, the colonists will have to take care of building additional housing from local materials.
The planet will be rich in the number of necessary research. Astronauts will begin to study the influence of Mars on plants and their own bodies, solve many geological and biological problems. Who knows, in their free time they might think: was life on Mars before them?
Online broadcasts and television
All the activities of astronauts will be broadcast in real time to Earth. You can keep abreast of all recent events (the response time is about half an hour, without amendment to the size of the data. translator), as well as occasionally listen to the stories of astronauts, who will definitely say something. What happens when you come to the surface? What is "participate in the adventure"? What is it like to experience gravity, which is only 40% of the earth? Answers to these, and many other questions will be received very soon.
New groups of people are planned to be planted on Mars every two years. The size of the settlement will grow steadily. A little later, many residential modules will be completed using local materials, so they will become large enough for a comfortable stay. The increase in the settlement will also have a beneficial effect on the state of the colonists, since they will be able to social life along with hard work.
True, this is really possible?
Mars One is not the first organization that dreamed of ideas about human flight to Mars. Many had similar plans. And yet, there was no success. Why should Mars One be successful?
Travel to Mars is one way road. This radically changes the requirements for the mission, completely removing the needs to return the equipment to Earth, which leads to a sharp decrease in the cost of the flight. Mars will become a new house for colonists in which they will live and work, probably until the end of their days.
Although there is a small opportunity to return home, you should not think about it seriously. To return a person to Earth, several built and fully seasoned missiles will be required, each of which will be able to fly to both ends with a total duration of 14 months. It will cost much more than the road one way.
In addition, do not forget about gravity. After several years of life on Mars, a person will be unable to return to Earth. This is due to irreversible physiological changes in the body, for example, a decrease in bone density, muscle loss and a decrease in the potential of the circulatory system. Even after a short trip to the Mir station, the astronauts got to their feet for two years, what can we say about Mars.
Thus, subject to permanent residence on Mars, all problems are reduced to ensuring the foundations for life: clean air, drinking water, food, and artificial support for plant growth (for the first time)
Although all this sounds difficult, in fact, the Mars One project can be implemented today. Humanity already owns the necessary technologies. Many data obtained as a result of past cosmic experiments can be applicable to this mission.
In addition, Mars contains some necessary elements and fossils. For the first settlement, for example, a place has been selected that contains water ice in the soil. This water can be used for drinking, bathing, watering feed crops, as well as to create oxygen. Mars has natural nitrogen sources – the main element of which in the air (80%) – we breathe.
Using this simple, reliable and abundant source of energy, a complete refusal to develop and launch a nuclear reactor is possible, while maintaining time and money, and reducing the risk using. Solar panels will be a good light source of energy – after all, the colony does not need heavy fuel types to launch missiles. The first settlement will have to cover with sun batteries an area of about 3,000 square meters. Although Mars is significantly further from the sun than the earth, it has a more subtle atmosphere. As a result of this compensation, a sufficient amount of energy enters the surface – about 500 watts per square meter (to Earth – 1000 W). In the first years, batteries will be located exclusively on the surface of the planet. As the power decreases due to dust raids, a special robot will clean them.
Thanks to the use of relatively simple marshals, money is preserved that could be spent on the development of more complex systems. Such machines were selected that, although they allow you to comfortably move around the territory, but are not able to maintain the atmosphere and pressure inside their corps – this will become the care of Martian costumes. This choice is optimal, as it significantly reduces the cost of development and delivery. The Mars Road will allow astronauts to drive up to 80 kilometers a day. In fact, the matter is not in the Markway – the battery on board contains a significant amount of energy – but the costumes, alas, are not intended for work lasting more than 8 hours. The speed of the pitch will not exceed 10 km per hour under direct control and will be even less with automatic. Although this seems too small, for a year it will be possible to explore about 5,000 square kilometers (when counting, take into account the review range, and the corresponding changes in the route. approx. translator). Do not forget that we are talking about the factory-on-on-wheel.
Lack of the latest developments
The whole plan is spinning around the use of really existing, time -tested technologies. Even if there is no component in the warehouse, this is only a small question of time, because there is no need for a radical change in the part. All suppliers confirmed their readiness to build the necessary components at least now.
The only selection criterion is the balance of price and quality. The project is not interested in the nation of the supplier. This distinguishes it from large corporations that dictate their foreign and domestic policy on the basis of many personal factors. Does this give significant guarantees of good quality and price? No!
Thus, the theoretical base for starting is quite ready. What awaits us next? Time will show.
